We believe an important element in our design process is to test all viable options with extensive prototyping and testing before selecting the best one to incorporate into our manufacturing flow. It's been an undertaking to select one of the most crucial components of our straps, our leather.
After years of working with tanneries, weights, color options, we've narrowed down the search to the oldest continuously running tannery in the United States, Horween Leather Co. Horween was founded in 1905 and still operates in Chicago today. It is the standard for the highest quality leather around, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
We use Horween's 7-8oz Chromexcel, the original pull-up leather using hundred year-old techniques and formulas, to complete our straps. The 7-8oz weight gives our straps the right mixture of security and flexibility needed for any guitar. Chromexcel is a combination tanned leather that undergoes at least 89 separate processes taking 28 working days and utilizing all 5 floors of the Horween facility. It's extremely complex, durable, the finest quality and beautiful. Nothing else compares.
