Grimey’s + The Basement
The OG Basement, pre-Basement East aka ‘The Beast’, remains, by large, the best music venue in town, trumping others in quality of sound, intimacy and stellar ambiance. The venue has been one of a handful of places to see a good show years before the “New Nashville” media hype takeover, and continues to captivate eyes and ears nightly. As fans of music and good times, it’s always nice to be able to attend the weekly tradition of a free New Faces night, or accidentally walk up on a secret show with very special guests, or be a part of the biggest and best day party for Americanafest hosted annually in the backyard.
Proprietor, Mike Grimes, a Nashville mover and shaker since the late 1990s, has influenced the local music scene by opening up The Basement’s upstairs neighbor, DIY turned nationally recognized record shop, Grimey’s. Pop in and peruse the wall-to-wall catalog of influential artists from genres past and present, thumb through the local talent and maybe catch the best in-store performance of your life!
