"My best friend and I were involved in a bike club at the time. There was a person in our social circle who we didn't like, so one day we grabbed his bicycle and went down to the train to smash it. We collapsed the tubes, slashed the tires, and severed every spoke. We left it on the tracks and watched a train run over it. I've felt guilty ever since. Maybe I was just young, but there was a time when the city felt free and lawless."
