Turn your culture meter up all the way by visiting The Frist Center for the Visual Arts just up the road from the crazy booze-carnival that is Lower Broadway. The accredited center is a nonprofit dedicated to showcasing and highlighting both original exhibitions and those of widespread recognition. It’s a place where you can immerse yourself in the masterpieces of Michelangelo, experience how the folks of Downton Abbey would have lived, stare at the ornate stitching in the imperial fabric of the Monarchy’s dress coat for a crowning ceremony, all while soaking up the local talent on display just down the hall.

After touring the galleries, be sure to check out the educational room on the third floor where you can create your own works of art using the center’s amenities. The Frist isn’t just an impeccable art museum, the historic building was home to Nashville’s first U.S. Post Office built in the 1930’s, with pristine traces of Art Deco design on display.
